What do others say about Memories of Middle Earth?

Welcome back to the Shire!
Reviewer: Joan Drushel, Texas
An incredible musical interpretation of Tolkien from the beautiful instrumentals to the to clever and often humorous lyrics. A must for any "Lord of the Rings" fan as well as fans of simply good music.

Still Loving the Bards!
Reviewer: RS Teke, Texas
I'll have to admit that the first time I listened to this CD I thought it was a bit strange. But the songs grew on me, and I love it as much as anything else the Bards have done. Legolas is a bit silly, but other than that the album is great fun to listen to. You really get the feeling that this is an album the Bards did out of their love for the books, and definitely not something they just did to make money or jump on the bandwagon.

It just sweeps me away!
Reviewer: Sandy, New York
I love getting lost in Middle Earth and this album definitely assists me in this. The beautiful melodies take me away to another world, one that I can return to time and time again with just a click of a button.

Welcome to Middle Earth
Reviewer: Amanda, Texas
This C.D. is truely a masterpiece. Let the instrumentals work their magic of putting you into an unearthly trance or sing along to the up beat vocals. I fall in love with the music all over again every time I listen to the C.D.

Bards and Tolkien, perfect together!
Reviewer: Brian Flatley, Georgia
My favorite tracks are "Legolas", "Now it's time to go (Bilbo's Farewell)", and " Psychopathic, Chronic, Schizophrenic Gollum Blues", because they show off the lighter side of the "Lord of the Rings" fanatacism. All the songs are well arranged and executed and will remind you of the parts of the story that they are about. No self-respecting Tolkien fan should be without it!

Memories of Middle Earth: A Brobdingnagian Tribute to J.R.R. Tolkien's LOTR Music

Lord of the Rings Music was Inspired

J.R.R. Tolkien was no doubt one of the greatest fantasy writers of the 20th century. His books The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy have inspired countless people around the world. We are two of those countless people.

And if you can believe it, it was one big accident

The Brobdingnagian Bards Lord of the Rings Music History Lesson

Andrew and I had just started playing Celtic music in 1999. Our songs were reminiscent of Irish pub music, but our instrumentals were something ALL their own.

That summer, we were hired to play music at a small Irish Pub/Bakery in Georgetown, Texas called Patti Cakes. We were brainless when it came to promoting our early gigs. So we practiced since the evening was so dead. And then proceeded to write a beautiful Celtic aire. The tune was slow and melodic. It had that Celtic/Renaissance ethereral sound that our growing fan base was loved so much. Something that took you to Emerald Island or beyond.

When the song finished, I looked up and saw the waitstaff were frozen. They seemed to be as mesmerized and enchanted as we were. Everyone took a deep breathe.

Wow! That was a keeper!

I remember feeling just overwhelmed and emotional, as Andrew and I looked at each other with that knowing look that now we have to name this song so we'll better remember it.

I turned towards my girlfriend at the time. She was still breatless. "What did this song remind you of?"

She was actually a bit flustered. Her mind sorta wandered a bit before she answered. It's like I could centuries of images read and lived flowing through her eyes.

At last, she said, "Tolkien".

Andrew and I looked at each other, and nodded in agreement. "Tolkien" it was.

"Tolkien's (The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings)" Tops the Celtic Music Charts

It wasn't until later that we realized what we had done. Every time we played that song, fans listened intent. It quickly became our most-popular instrumental song at gigs.

Then something even more astounding happened, it became our most-popular song ever! That Fall, "Tolkien (The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings)" was the first song we submitted to the world's biggest free music download website, MP3.com. Two months later, it broke into the Celtic Top 40. Three months after that it was a Top 10 song. A year after it was first released, it was the #1 Celtic song on MP3.com.

And it didn't stop there. It was the #1 World music and Celtic music song on MP3.com, almost exclusively, until the website folded in 2003. It had climbed as #14 on ALL MP3.com. And it had over ONE MILLION DOWNLOADS of that one song, just on MP3.com!

The Lord of the Rings Music Flame Never Dies

It's sorta like Lord of the Rings itself. The flame just hasn't died. In fact it's grown. We have new Tolkien fans contact us daily telling us how much they love this CD. It's our best-seller, and not just because Lord of the Rings is such a smash.

One fan from Ohio said, "It does well to encompass the feelings behind/inpsired by the books. It is soothing, light-hearted, spirited, deep, lonely, and beautiful."

Another loved the hobbit-y feel.

"I love this CD ! Most of the Lord of the Rings music you hear these days is overflowing with synthesized music. This album is simple. It has all the magic of Tolkien's Middle Earth, as if it were made by the hobbits and elves of Middle Earth, itself!" --A Fan from Colorado

No. This album is not for everyone. But if you're a fan of the history, the legends, the magic that was inherient in JRR Tolkien's creation, then you will love, Memories of Middle Earth!

More Lord of the Rings Music

Lord of The Rings Music: Fellowship of The Ring - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Limited Edition) [SOUNDTRACK]Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring Music Soundtrack
The first movie, Fellowship of the Ring, was released in 2001 with critical acclaim. The soundtrack by Howard Shore, featuring the Lord of the Rings music of Enya did an outstanding job at capturing the magic and mystery of Tolkien's world. Not to mention it won Howard Shore and Oscar for "Best Original Score!"

Lord of The Rings Music: Two Towers - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Limited Edition) [SOUNDTRACK]Lord of the Rings - Two Towers Music Soundtrack
The second movie, Two Towers, was released in 2002, and Howard Shore did it again with more great Lord of the Rings music to compliment the movie and books. The Oscar's are coming up. Check back to see if Lord of the Rings music wins again!

Lord of the Rings - Return of the King Music Soundtrack
I heard a rumor recently that Clannad is producing some of the music for the next movie, which is to be expected, considering Celtic New Age artist (and little sister), Enya, had two songs in the first movie. The first "May It Be" was downloadable in Liquid Audio form on Enya's Amazon.com homepage. The second "Aniron (Theme For Aragorn And Arwen)" is not available, but it is sung entirely in the Elven dialect from The Council of Elrond. An exquisite song.
